Ogun State Doctors on inappropriate strike
Yesterday June 13, 2016 Doctors in Ogun State went on inappropriate strike
This was announced by the Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Oladunni Adetola, in Abeokuta.
“Unequipped Laboratories and common essential drugs are not
available at the pharmacies, to this effect the people are being forced to buy
substandard drugs from outside the hospitals.
“Series
of letters has been forwarded to the government to tackle this issue before now. The effect is glaring in the poor health
indices of the state.
“As a professional
body, we should justify the confidence reposed in us. Health is a right
and Ogun State citizens deserve the best. It was resolved at an
emergency general meeting of the association that members should
commence on a Monday and Tuesday strike every week starting from Monday
13th June till above mentioned problems are corrected,” he added.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD) has said that some of its members are still on strike because they’re being owed salaries.
This is really indefinite, Government should do something about this drastic issue... Lives might be at stake.
