Brume has made it to Rio Olympics

Ese Brume, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist has qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games after meeting the 6.70m standard for the women’s long jump at the finals of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria’s Golden League on Monday.
Brume leapt to a season’s best of 6.83m at the Akure Golden League to seal her place in Rio. She had pursued the standard in the three previous Golden League outings. The 2015 All Africa Games gold medallist jumped 6.54m in Abuja before leaping to 6.60m in Sagamu.
The 20-year-old also smashed her previous personal record of 6.68m, which she set in 2014.
The AFN is expected to name athletes, who will represent the country at the 2016 CAA African Senior Athletics Championships in Durban, South Africa after the Akure Golden League. The competition will hold from June 22 to 26.
In other events, Divine Oduduru won the men’s 100 and 200m as he clocked 10.29secs and 20.53secs in the two events. Patience George won the women’s 400m in 51.06secs while Yinka Ajayi and Omolara Omotosho finished second and third in 52.27secs and 52.61secs respectively.
Orukpe Erayokan returned to the finals after his recovery from an injury to win the men’s 400m in 46.22secs while Isah Salihu finished second in 46.52secs and Henry Okorie was third in 47.12secs.
